Yarn count: The yarn count of wool yarn is expressed in metric units. A higher count indicates finer yarn, and a lower count indicates coarser yarn.

Metric yarn count refers to the number of kilometers per kilogram of yarn. For example, 18,000 meters of 1kg yarn is 18-count yarn.

Twist of wool yarn: The twist of wool yarn refers to the number of twists per unit length. Twist has a twist direction, with "S" twist and "Z" twist. Twist is generally expressed as twists per meter (m). Different yarn counts result in different twists. To facilitate comparison of the twist of wool yarns and yarns with different counts, the concept of "twist coefficient" is commonly used.

When choosing the "twist coefficient," generally pure wool has a higher coefficient than blended yarn, blended yarn has a higher coefficient than synthetic yarn, yarns with a higher short fiber content have a higher coefficient than yarns with a lower short fiber content, and finer yarns have a higher coefficient than coarser yarns.

Strength and elongation of wool yarn: The tensile strength of wool yarn is called its tensile strength. The elongation of wool yarn is expressed as the length it stretches after being broken, measured by the load it bears.

The strength of wool yarn is closely related to the durability and production efficiency of fabrics. Strength is the foundation of the fabric's tensile strength. Therefore, the tensile strength of wool yarn is an important quality indicator. Since tensile strength directly affects its quality, an appropriate range is required. Excessive tensile strength will cause the wool yarn to loosen and reduce strength; insufficient tensile strength will increase strength but make the wool yarn stiff. The tensile strength of wool yarn varies depending on the raw materials used, the degree of processing, and the fiber arrangement. Higher quality raw materials, more uniform fiber arrangement, and appropriate twisting result in higher wool yarn strength and better elasticity.
